The ACADEMY OF WORLD RELIGIONS

The Academy of World Religions (Akademie der Weltreligionen, AWR) aims to intensify the study of religions – particularly, of Judaism, Islam, Alevism, Hinduism and Buddhism – in the context of Western societies by facilitating the cooperation and exchange between different academic disciplines.

The Academy of World Religions is further intended to allow the academic study at university level of Islamic theology, Jewish studies, the theologies of other religions and of Buddhism and strengthen research in these fields. Dialogue between religions – always also including Christianity – is a cornerstone of its academic profile in research and teaching.
